Mòpyon ("the game", "we") is a five-in-a-row paper-and-pencil game by Jocelyn Emilus. This policy explains what the game does with your information.
You can play Mòpyon as a guest. A guest's level, wins, losses, current match and settings stay only on their own phone or tablet. We do not collect them.
Signing in is optional. You can sign in with Apple or with Google, so that your progress is saved online and you can pick it up on another device, and so that you can play a friend online. If you do, we receive and keep:
We use this only to sign you in, to save and restore your progress, to let you play a friend, and to help you if you contact us. We can see each player's name and level so we can support the game. We do not sell your information, do not use it for advertising or tracking, and do not share it with anyone except the services that run the game for us (see below).
You can start a game and send its code to a friend, or join a friend's game with their code. Both of you must be signed in. For as long as the game lasts it keeps: the code, both players' display names, the pen colours you each chose, the moves of the game and the score. Your friend sees your display name (not your email address). Nobody else can see a game unless they have its code.
A friend game is deleted automatically about 30 days after its last move. If you delete your account, your name may stay inside a friend game that has not been deleted yet, until that deletion.
Mòpyon Plus is a one-time purchase made through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment: we never see your card or payment details. The game only learns from the App Store that Plus has been bought, and remembers that on your device.
The game counts the time for the hearts by the time of a web server, so that changing a device's clock does not give hearts back. To learn it, the game makes an ordinary web request to this website. Like any web request it reveals your device's internet address to the services that host this site (GitHub and Cloudflare), which may keep normal technical logs. We do not use that information.
Your account and progress are stored with Google Firebase (Google Cloud, in the United States), which also runs the Google and Apple sign-in. These services process your information for us under their own privacy terms.
In the game, open Settings → Account → Delete my account. This deletes your account and all the progress we keep online for it. It cannot be undone. The progress on your own device stays, and you become a guest again. You can also ask us to delete your account by email. Deleting the game from your device erases what it saved there.
The game has no advertising, no analytics and no tracking, and it uses none of the advertising or tracking features of your device.
The game is not meant for children under 13 to create accounts. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. A child can play as a guest, which collects nothing. If you believe a child has signed in, contact us and we will delete the account.
If we add features that use more information, we will update this policy before they are released, say plainly what they use and why, and ask for your permission where the law or the app store requires it. The date at the top shows when the policy last changed.
